long time no see

Woah, I haven't written in a LOOOONG time!

Earring sales are booming! Oh, it's such a blast. I have craft night on Monday nights, and it keeps me sane. I've been playing around with Swarovski crystals recently:

good times!

School's going well. I'm loving the CFS program at PSU. Also, I am completing my practicum at Opal Charter School (a Reggio Emilia-based, public charter school) and it's more than I could have EVER asked for! These children are showing me that children are capable of more than I could ever imagine! I am learning so many ideas to become a better teacher.

I'm getting ready to apply for graduate school, where has the time gone?! Also, my buddies over at GC have their commencement ceremony this Saturday. Wish I could be there to cheer them on! I am incredibly proud of their accomplishments!! I found out today that I can graduate in Winter term rather than Spring term, AHHHHHH SO EXCITING!

Here's to a great life!
The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace.

prayer.

Dear God,

what do you want me to do?

much love,

am I strong enough?

I am studying the effects of divorce on the academic achievement of children and it's heart wrenching. Last term I studied intimate partner violence (IPV) and just listening to all of these dreadful things happening in the world and I ask myself, am I strong enough to be a teacher?

He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.
Isaiah 40:29

He is strong enough in me.

let knowledge serve the city.

So I haven't blogged in over a month but it has been a busy term! I am finally in the CFS program, so I have been focusing a lot of energy on researching and figuring out the field. I should graduate next Spring and start graduate school next summer. I am so grateful to be a female and to have the opportunity to go to graduate school! Sometimes I give feminists a hard time, but I truly am grateful for everything the women did before me so that I can be here now.

I'm having a good term. My term theme is: Plan Ahead. I've never had a term theme, but it's working very well!! This term has been great as far as learning. I am really learning this term, rather than racing to get something done or cramming for a final, even in my geology class! I am very grateful for my current position in life.

I've been chugging along making and selling earrings. I am selling through facebook and through friends and peers. Here's my facebook page. Just comment on a picture and I'll get it to ya!

much love,
Abbi Joy.

fun.

So, I finished the first week of Winter term!! I have 2 thoughts: Fun's over. The fun's just beginning. It's my first term taking 4 classes, so it's going to be a busy term. At the same time, I'm FINALLLLLLY in the CFS program!!! I transferred to PSU two and a half years ago with the plan to be in the CFS program.

It's been a crazy ride getting here, but I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel! Now the decision is whether or not to add an El Ed minor. It's an additional 4 classes. I thought I'd be done by Fall 2011 but it might end up being longer than that.. still working out the kinks. Depends on whether or not I want to rush to graduate, or add an El Ed minor and slow down. And, the two 5 credit Practicums have 150 volunteer hours each!!! In ten weeks :/ So I don't want to crowd my schedule when I take those Practicums. Anyhoo... should be a fun term.

school.

So... school started today. I didn't read any of my ed books during the break, but I had a great break anyways!! I read Three Cups of Tea Young Reader's Ed and I got a lot of great ideas for the classroom!

I settled down on my school schedule today.. which has been stressful. I'm taking Family Theories, Intro to CFS, Math for Elementary School Teachers and Earth & Space Science for Middle School Teachers (because the elementary school teacher one was closed). I haven't taken science in 6 years. I was reading requirements for the graduate program and it said students with a lack of math and science are not as strong of candidates, so I thought I should add one in.

I had a great New Years Eve. I made a scrapbook of the year. It was great to remember the good memories of the year because I had a difficult year with my seizures. I did a lot of wonderful things in 2010. Went to Belize, Bend, and Chipotle a lot!!

Happy New Year! Be kind and love.
